The estate is located in an ideal position to visit the main centers of artistic attraction, starting from nearby Volterra which still preserves a delightful historical center of Etruscan origin. In addition to the Etruscan Museum, it is possible to admire several medieval buildings,visitors can admire its medieval buildings, the Medici Fortress and the Cathedral.

A little further away from Pisa is Lucca, known as the city of the 100 churches. Lucca is also renowned for its Renaissance walls, which have remained intact through the years. There is a 4km long path which runs along the top of the walls which you can walk or bike, as well as walking all around the old center of the city. Among its many attractions are the Roman Amphitheater and Piazza San Michele where the Roman Forum was located.

Volterra

Volterra is an ancient city in the province of Pisa. It was one of the city-states of Etruria, the old name for Tuscany. Its historical city center is beautifully preserved, including a good part of the city walls, the Porta Diana. the Porta all’Arco (gates of the walled city), the Acropolis,and many Etruscan tombs, as well as several medieval buildings such as the Palazzo dei Priori, the Fortress Medicea and the Cathedral.

Lajatico rises on a hill located to the west of the Era river, about 45 km from Pisa. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and rich in history in the whole Val d’Era (Era River Valley). It is the city where Andrea Bocelli was born, who has contributed so much to the cultural life of the city and the world. The city organizes splendid artistic installations throughout the year. Not to be missed is the Teatro del Silenzio, a place of unique and suggestive charm, where Andrea Bocelli performs every summer.

The Masso delle Fanciulle (The Damsels’ Rock), near the Cecina river of Pomarance, can be reached with a short walk through amazing landscapes.
The Volterra waterfalls are waterfalls that create natural pools where you can go swimming. To get there the route is slightly more difficult, but offers beautiful views. Continuing the route you can follow a “ring” as indicated by the map. The path leads through enchanted liana vine woods with ponds, up to the Pieve della Nera, a place of pilgrimages in the past. Do not miss the Ghiaccione Waterfalls in Chianni, as well asthe Alta Val d’Elsa River Park on Colle Val d’Elsa. All these places have parking areas with picnic tables and pets are welcome. They are all places with free access and good fishing during authorized periods.
